Tok Sen – Tapping technique from Northern Thailand
Traditional Tapping Technique from Chiang Mai
Tok Sen – The Tapping Technique from Northern Thailand
Tok Sen originates from Northern Thailand, particularly from the region around Chiang Mai. Traditionally, this technique was passed down in temples and applied to people who physically worked hard. I learned Tok Sen at the Wat Sri Supan – the Silver Temple in Chiang Mai, a place where this ancient method is still practiced today.
Tok Sen is performed with a wooden hammer and various wooden wedges. Each wedge has its own shape and depth, depending on which body areas need to be treated. Through the rhythmic tapping, vibrations move through the tissue, releasing deep-seated tension and restoring natural mobility.
The process is calm and repetitive. Many describe Tok Sen as almost meditative – the steady rhythm helps the body to relax while the muscles are gently but effectively worked on.
Tok Sen is particularly helpful for those who:
are exposed to physical stress
work in an office or sit for long periods
exercise regularly and need recovery
appreciate a strong and clear sense of body
are seeking a rare experience that is hard to find in Europe
Tok Sen works through vibration, pressure, and sound – a direct and honest form of bodywork without oil. It reaches deep muscle and fascia layers that are often difficult to access with conventional massages.
And the best part: I come to you – to your home, office, or hotel.
